Originally from Alberta, lived in Asia for almost a decade and now calls Vancouver Island, BC home. Anne-Marie Reilander (she/her) comes to Cedars as a student in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program from Yorkville University. Anne-Marie’s background includes a Bachelor of Arts with a Psychology major and a minor in Sociology, a Bachelor of Education-Master of Teaching and a Diploma in Radio and Television Arts. In between all Anne-Marie’s schooling she also acquired great deal of lived world cultural experience, she’s lived in an ashram at the base of the Himalayas on the banks of the Ganges in India, hiked to Machu Picchu in Peru, experienced Christmas with a local family in Italy and celebrated countless Chinese festivals including Lunar New Year, Lantern Festival, Mid Autumn Festival, traditional Chinese and Burmese weddings in China and Burma and funerals in China just to name a few. While traveling and working overseas is great, Anne-Marie, her husband Phil and their cat Charlotte have finally found their heaven in the Cowichan Valley. When Anne-Marie is not working you can find her practicing or teaching yoga, teaching math and English to adult learners from Cowichan Tribes, window shopping in the quaint towns of the Valley, on top of the any of our beautiful mountains, hiking through our rainforests, at the beach, or just crocheting at one of our lovely coffee shops.
