Paul Thompson

Community Support Worker

Paul is a lifelong British Columbian who has called the Cowichan Valley home for more than 38 years. He has spent over 35 years working as a carpenter and has always enjoyed learning new skills and taking on new challenges. During high school, Paul competed in gymnastics and was honoured to win a gold medal at the BC Winter Games.

Paul has also dedicated his time to serving his community through Search and Rescue, where he volunteered for more than four years. During that time, he trained as a high-angle rope rescuer, served on the Board of Directors as Fleet Manager, and helped train others in the use of utility terrain vehicles.

Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time in the woods or along the ocean with his dog. He is passionate about nature photography, motorcycles, and woodworking, and is also a published poet. He finds inspiration in the natural world and the many ways there are to create and explore.

Paul describes joining Cedars as an amazing gift and is grateful for the opportunity to be part of a community that has helped deepen his sense of spirituality, gratitude, and humility.
