Shelby Johnston

Recovery Coach

Originally from Calgary but now proudly rooted in Nanaimo for the past five years, Shelby brings lived experience, professional training, and just the right amount of quirky charm to her role as a Recovery Coach. A Cedars alumni, she knows firsthand that recovery isn’t just about getting better, it’s about building a life that’s actually worth living (and maybe even having a little fun along the way!).

Currently working on her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Indigenous Studies at Vancouver Island University, Shelby is passionate about holistic wellness, community connection, and weaving spirituality into the healing process. When she’s not supporting others in their recovery journey, she’s likely at the gym, out riding her motorcycle, or deep in conversation about life, energy, and everything in between.

Her long-term mission? To help shape and implement recovery programs and policies that make a real difference. But for now, she’s here - holding space, offering encouragement, and probably making an unexpected yet oddly fitting motorcycle metaphor about the road to recovery.
