Wade Smith, MA, MMM, CD

Indigenous Lead

Wade grew up in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, not knowing of his Red River Metis roots. As an adult walking the Red Road, he does his best to honour those forgotten ancestors. His Metis family names are Cook, Adams, Humphreyville, Isham, and Turner.

Wade joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1991. With a 24-year career spanning both army and navy, Wade specialized in deep sea diving and bomb disposal, retiring in 2015. During his service, Wade was awarded the Governor General’s Unit Commendation, Afghanistan Command Commendation, Navy Bravo Zulu award, and was invested into the Order of Military Merit.

Since retiring, Wade trained, mentored, and worked as a professional life coach, and attained a Master of Arts Degree in Global Leadership from Royal Roads University.

In 2017, Creator brought a chance encounter with a Metis Elder, and almost immediately began to fire keep, tend to the sweat lodge, and learn about nature-based healing and ritual.

In 2023, a mutual Elder friend introduced Wade to Elder Bruce, and the beginnings of working with Cedars.
